We will start our day by admiring Punta Secca, a small seaside spot of Santa Croce Camerina. The village, well known as the setting of the famous Inspector Montalbano TV series, is characterised by a peculiar pointed reef called "a sicca" that brought to the construction of a lighthouse in order to indicate its presence to all kinds of craft. As the landing place of Barbary pirates, it has been equipped with a watchtower since 1596 and recently improved with a panoramic square and a seafront coasting the golden beach.
- Subsequently, we will move on towards Donnafugata Castle, the summer residence of the Arezzo family native of Ragusa. Over the course of the 1800s, its proprietor, the Baron Corrado Arezzo De Spucches enriched the rooms of his dwelling place with frescoes and architecture masterpieces thus making it look like a castle. Inside the remarkable park, we can admire a coffee house, a small neoclassical shrine, artificial caves and a masonry maze, a place of relaxation and enjoyment for the delight of guests and visitors.
- The tour concludes with a visit to Scicli, which Elio Vittorini defined as the most beautiful city in the world. After the earthquake that took place in 1693, the city was rebuilt upon the three hills that surrounded it. Nowadays, it looks almost like a living Nativity scene! Palazzo Beneventano and Via Francesco Mormino Penna, as the city’s fulcrum of social life, are a source of pride for being part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
