Itinerary:

  • The Montalbano tour begins with a visit to Punta Secca, a small beach town near Santa Croce Camerina, which became famous because of the beach house of the Inspector Montalbano. The small sea town is characterized by a singular pointed cliff, on which a lighthouse was built to indicate its presence to the ships. Landing place of north African pirates, it has a 1596 watchtower, and recently has a panoramic square and a seafront which runs along the golden beach.
  • The guided tour continues to the Donnafugata Castle, the summer residence of the Arezzo family of Ragusa. The owner, the Baron Corrado Arezzo De Spucches, during the 19th century, enriched the rooms with frescos, and the house with architectures, giving the impression of a castle. The interior park is unique and contains a coffee house, a neoclassical temple, fake caves and a stone made labyrinth for the amusement and fun of his guests.
  • The guided tour concludes with the visit to Scicli, which Elio Vittorini defined as the most beautiful city in the world. Reconstructed after the 1693 Earthquake on the three hills that surround it, it is presented almost like a live nativity scene! Palazzo Beneventano and the Via Mormino-Penna, focal points of the city’s social life, are the places which allowed Scicli to become an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
